How to Make Broccoli Quinoa Patties

STEP 1 – Cook the broccoli

In a microwave-safe bowl, cover broccoli with water and cook in the microwave for approximately 4-6 minutes or until broccoli is tender.

STEP 2 – Process ingredients

Meanwhile, add remaining ingredients, except for avocado oil, to a food processor. Carefully, drain the broccoli and add cooked broccoli to the food processor. Process the ingredients until mixed well.

STEP 3 – Cook the patties

Heat a large pan or skillet over medium heat and coat with avocado oil. Scoop a large spoonful of the mixture out with a spoon and then, using your hands, form a patty and place it in the pan. Repeat with the rest of the mixture. Cook for 5 minutes on one side or until golden brown. Spray the tops of the patties with avocado oil spray, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until cooked through.

A Baby-Led Weaning Recipe for the Whole Family

These Cheesy Broccoli Quinoa Patties are perfect for baby-led weaning and can easily be adapted (or served as is!) for a toddler or adult! When serving to a toddler, older child, or adult, you could serve with a dipping sauce like ranch, ketchup (we love Halo + Cleaver ketchup which has no added sugar!), or marinara sauce. You could serve these patties on a burger bun, alongside some french fries or roasted potatoes, and a salad.

Broccoli Patties FAQ

Can I use regular flour in these patties?

Yes! You can replace the almond flour with regular flour at a 1:1 ratio.

Can I make these Broccoli Patties vegan?

I personally haven’t tried making them vegan, so I can’t guarantee the result. You could try replacing the eggs with flax eggs. To do this, combine 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal with 5 tablespoons water in a small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until it forms a gel-like consistency. Add this into the food processor as if it were eggs. You will also need to replace the cheese with a vegan cheese.

How do I store these Broccoli Quinoa Patties?

Fridge. Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freezer. Once patties have cooled, place them in a freezer-safe container or bag, separating each patty with a piece of parchment paper so they don’t stick together. To reheat, you can warm them in the microwave or in a pan.
