Ingredient Notes
- Greek Yogurt: I used plain non-fat Greek yogurt, but any fat percentage works here. Full-fat will give you an extra creamy parfait! You can also use a dairy-free yogurt if needed.
- Apple Compote: This is the heart of the recipe and what makes it taste like apple pie! You can use store-bought, but homemade is really easy to make on the weekend for meal prep and most likely has way less sugar. J
- Almond Butter: Make sure your almond butter doesn’t have added sugar in it – it can sneak in there! The almond butter adds healthy fat and protein, which helps this greek yogurt parfait keep you full way longer.
- Granola: I used One Degree Organics Organic Cinnamon Raisin Protein Granola and love it for this recipe. Use any granola you’d like though! Or, use chopped up nuts or any of your favorite toppings!
Additions & Substitutions
- Protein Powder or Collagen: Want to bump up the protein? You can stir a scoop of vanilla protein powder or collagen right into your yogurt before layering. My Chia Greek Yogurt Protein Bowl uses this trick and it works really well!
- Maple Syrup or Honey: If you want a little extra sweetness, a small drizzle on top is a nice touch.
- Nut Butter Swap: Any nut butter works here! Cashew butter would be really delicious. Use sunflower seed butter to make it nut-free.
- Yogurt Swap: You can use a dairy-free yogurt if needed. Just look for one that’s higher in protein to keep it filling!

Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Wait to add the granola until you’re ready to eat: This is especially important if you’re meal prepping! The granola will get soggy if it sits in the fridge. Add it right before eating for the best texture.
- Make the apple compote ahead of time: Meal prepping the compote on Sunday is a total game changer for your week. Store it in a jar in the fridge and you can build parfaits in under 2 minutes each morning if you don’t want to meal prep them completely ahead of time.
- Layer in a jar for easy transport: If you’re heading out the door for work or bringing this to a sports game or playdate, build it in a mason jar or meal prep jar with a lid. Just pack the granola separately and add it when you’re ready to eat!
- Use a runny almond butter: It layers so much easier and blends into the yogurt beautifully. A stiff or cold almond butter can be hard to spread, so let it sit at room temperature for a bit if needed.
- Use a small meal prep jar if serving to kids: I love using smaller meal prep containers with lids when I’m meal prepping the parfaits for my kids.
Meal Prep & Storage
- Meal Prep: This apple cinnamon yogurt parfait is so great for meal prep! You can build 3-4 parfaits at the start of the week and store them in the fridge. Just leave the granola off until you’re ready to eat. The compote, yogurt, and almond butter can all sit together for up to 4 days!
- Fridge: Store in an airtight container or sealed meal prep jar in the fridge for up to 4 days. Add the granola only when you’re about to eat it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! My kids love this recipe! It tastes like a treat to them, which makes it a really easy breakfast win. If your kids aren’t into chunky fruit, you can try blending the apple compote smooth before layering.
Yep! Just swap the Greek yogurt for a dairy-free yogurt. Look for one with a decent amount of protein to keep the parfait filling.
You can top it with thin-sliced fresh apples, but the compote really is what gives this its apple pie flavor. I’d highly recommend making a quick batch of my healthy apple compote if you can – it makes such a difference!
You can swap the granola for chopped walnuts, pecans, or even a sprinkle of oats with cinnamon for a little crunch without the sweetness.
